7.17.20 – No Flag

July 17, 2020July 17, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

No flag but our flag—
The one you salute—
Not the Confederate—
The one you mustn’t salute—
Can fly in our homes—
Where you salute—
From here on out
You must only salute
The American flag,
Every chief or recruit.

7.16.20 – Shake the Tree

July 16, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Shake the tree
And see what falls down.
Is it Stepien
Or Brad Pascale?
Regardless
Trump is falling fast
And the next tree shake
May be his last.

7.15.20 – CDSee You Later

July 15, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Want this data?
Do you really want it?
Sike!
I just wanted to flaunt it
In your face for you to worry
About COVID, but not correct
My mistakes.
For the CDC is too incompetent.

7.14.20 – Execution by Decision

July 14, 2020July 15, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Daniel Lee Lewis
Was sentenced to death
By the US:
His mortal bequest.
After 17 years
Of being death-free
The greatest country adheres
To their deathless story.

7.13.20 – Trump Wears a Mask

July 13, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Trump’s mask was finally born
From advisers who repeatedly warned
That he should wear masks,
But he was too proud to ask
Someone to show how its worn.

7.10.20 – Examining a Financial Disaster

July 10, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

In the shadow of a crippled nation
A small man defends his wealth.
It does not interrupt ovation
Coming only from himself.

7.9.20 – Kayne Promises Kanye Things

July 10, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Twenty-twenty three
President Kanye takes a knee.
Musk at his side
The final COVID patient dies.
Kanye promises Kanye things.

7.8.20 – Hong Kong, Meet China

July 8, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

China opened an office
In a hotel (it was once)
To monitor Hong Kong
(And squash resistance).

7.7.20- Take the Money and Run

July 7, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Six hundred fifty thousand
Businesses borrowed billions of bucks.
Was it strip clubs? Baseball?
Kanye?
Or all the above?
‘Yes’ is the answer!
Because everyone won
(Except the small Black businesses
Who might not survive long).

7.6.20 – Composing a Farewell Song

July 6, 2020 / Christopher Unterberger / Leave a comment

Once Upon a Time in America,
There was a composer named Morricone.
He wrote and he sweat,
Succeeded, and yet,
Didn’t win Oscar until 2016.
He wrote for cowboys in spaghetti
And cowboys in the winter
Until today,
When he wrote his own farewell song.
